Discover

Haus of Cité Soleil is a fashion house that was founded in 2018 by David Jean and produces contemporary ready-to-wear for men and women. The name derives from the city, Cité Soleil, which is an extremely impoverished and densely populated commune located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area in Haiti. The logo is of a phoenix bird that was featured on the Kingdom of Haiti flag from the years 1811-1820.

Editor's Notes

Black Fashion Fair x Haus of Cité Soleil celebrates the contemporary labels inspiration of Haiti. Designer David Jean and Black Fashion Fair founder, Antoine Gregory, who are both of Haitian descent, come together to share this story of home, resilience, and hope.

Featuring a hand-sketched drawing of Muhammad Ali and Arthur Ashe, we commemorate what the two have done for the African Diaspora, but specifically their contributions to Haiti and their opposition of the treatment of Haitians seeking asylum in the U.S. during the 1990s.
